Dorothy Joan Hawk passed away November 20, 2021, at the age of 74 with family at her side.

She was one of four children, born and raised in St. Louis, attending Riverview High School. Dorothy was a good athlete who enjoyed competing in gymnastics, however, a life in the country was her true dream. After being introduced to the area by her sister, she found that dream on 7 acres in Warrenton, Missouri. For many years, Dorothy kept busy working as a school bus driver and attending her daughters’ sports activities during the school year. She spent summers working tirelessly landscaping her property, transforming it to look like a manicured park. Although she had chickens and dogs for years, she was able to delve into her love of horses in the mid 90’s.

For the next 25 years, you could find Dorothy traveling in her RV with horse trailer in tow, off to spend days riding and camping with her many friends and daughter, Toni, at various spots in Missouri. This was a life well lived! Her beautiful smile and warm attitude will be missed by many. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Fred, along with her brother, Fred. She is survived by her supportive sisters, Marilyn and Carolyn, her husband Richard, her daughters Toni and Dana, and her cherished grandchildren Kenzie and Garrett.

A private ceremony will be held in the horse pasture on those 7 acres that brought her so much joy. In lieu of flowers, please remember Dorothy with a donation to your favorite animal rescue in her name.
