NECAC taking applications for summer energy assistance

The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) is taking applications for a summer utility assistance program. The summer Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP) is a federallyfunded program that pays overdue electricity bills up to $300 for income-qualifying households.NECAC has $373,644 in summer ECIP dollars available – a little more than the $318,294 the agency had last summer, when assistance was provided to 1,403 households in 12 counties. The average ECIP payment was $226.“We can help a lot of housholds, and not all of them will need $300 in assistance,” said Linda Fritz, NECAC Emergency Services supervisor.“We urge people to give us a call and schedule an appointment at their NECAC County Service Center.”Participants must have received a utility shut-off notice. If they received assistance from the winter portion of the program through NECAC, all that will be needed is the shut-off notice. Those who are new to the program, and those who did not participate in the winter portion, must fill out additional paperwork.People may sign up or request more information by visiting or calling the Warren County NECAC office, at 120 E. Main in Warrenton or 636-456-8191.NECAC
