MU Extension considers common garden woes

Posted

Learn to deal with diseases, insects and weeds in your vegetable garden during a three-part webinar series presented by University of Missouri Extension horticulture specialists 6:30-8 p.m. Mondays, June 3-June 17.

Tomatoes, a favorite vegetable garden plant, have numerous issues each year, says Debi Kelly, who will teach about common vegetable garden disease issues on June 3. “Who doesn’t like a plump, red, juicy tomato freshly picked from the garden?” Kelly says. “The good news is, not all issues are disease related. Some are a physiological disorder and not a disease.”

“There are many insects that can be found in the garden. Some are pests while others are not, and it is important to know the difference,” said Donna Aufdenberg, who will teach about identification, prevention and pest control methods of common garden pests on June 10.

Weeds are a never-ending garden problem. Learn about how to identify weeds, their growth habits and different control methods from Katie Kammler on June 17.

Cost is $30 for all three sessions. Register at https://www.cvent.com/d/y1q813/4W.
