Why are you running and why should people vote for you?
My sister (Wildcat '94) and I (Wildcat '97) are the first ones in our family to graduate from college. That was no easy feat, and possible only through the dedication of Wright City School District staff members who prepared us and a supportive family.
I want to make sure that every student in our District has, and feels, the same kind of support that I did as a student, so that whether their path takes them to the military, a skilled trade, straight to the workforce, or college, they know that they are not alone, they are supported, and that we are all DEDICATED TO THEIR SUCCESS!
I have been blessed with an amazing career! I currently serve as the Executive Director of Human Resources for the Fort Zumwalt School District, where I have the opportunity to work with amazing school leaders on the opportunities and challenges that public schools face.
Prior to changing careers to human resources, I spent 16 years leading local Chambers of Commerce and working with economic development partners. That work is where the importance of high-quality public education truly sunk in for me.
Our community thrives when our schools thrive! Businesses locate where there is a skilled workforce, where there is a skilled workforce there is low unemployment, where there is low unemployment there is low crime, increased wellness among residents, and an increase in home value.
Most importantly, I am a mom of two and an aunt of four Wildcats. Every decision I make on the Board of Education is done through "mom-eyes" and considering the impact of those decisions on each of our students as if they were mine.
I hope that voters will vote for me because of my professional experiences, passion for public education, and love of the Wright City community.
What are your goals if elected?
Stable leadership at every level. Continuing to work on and meet our academic goals for students. Strengthening the climate and culture for our staff, students, and patrons.
What issues are most pressing for your constituency?
The Wright City School District has so much going on right now. Most notably, we just hired a new superintendent and we're building and expanding to prepare for a major population boom. I believe that no matter what is grabbing headlines day to day, the top priority of our parents is that their children receive the best educational experience possible. They want to know that by attending Wright City schools, their children are prepared for success.
