The Warren County R-III School Board conducted its reorganization process during its monthly meeting on April 11.
Jeff Schneider and Deanna Zwyers were both re-elected in the April 2 election for another three years on the school board.
Schneider was sworn into oath as the new vice president of the school board.
While the public voted for Schneider and Zwyers to serve a second term, officer positions are decided by the board.
“He’ll do fantastic. He’s a wonderful board member and we are thankful to have him,” Superintendent Gregg Klinginsmith said.
Franci Schwartz will remain as president, while Sarah Janes will transition from her role of vice president to treasurer.
Schneider is entering his fourth year on the school board. In his previous term, he had served as the board’s treasurer.
“Our board is good about getting different experiences for everyone involved,” Schneider said. “I am most excited about trying something different.”
Schneider said he wants to find ways to improve the district, whether it be academically or financially.
“That’s what I have been most interested in all of my time on the school board is just that continuous improvement,” Schneider said.
He also wants to thank the community for passing Prop R3, which will fund the construction of a new elementary school north of Interstate 70 while the existing Daniel Boone Elementary will become an early childhood center.
The bond issue also was passed in the April 2 election.
“It was exciting to see,” Schneider said. “[Now] we can start plans for building the new school.”
