Why are you running and why should people vote for you?
To represent the citizens of the Marthasville Fire Protection District, and to assure we are prepared to respond to the calls-for-service we are dispatched to. I have been conscious of our Districts patron’s tax dollars we receive and spend the money in the best interest of our taxpayers. Yet maintain a vibrant department capable of the many and diverse calls our District receives.
What are your goals if elected?
Continue to grow the District with the community as the volume and variety of calls for service grows. Recently we began to develop a strategic plan to help guide the District into the future – continue to develop this plan. Continue our Community outreach and explore opportunities to expand; this past August we held a very successful School Safety Rodeo for the staff of our Districts schools, public and private. Maintain or improve our Class 4 ISO rating for the benefit of District citizens on their insurance. Hold our volunteers and board to the highest standards, and demonstrate our appreciation for their service.
What issues are most pressing for your constituency?
Inflation, we have seen the cost to do business rise over the past four years with fixed expenses last year taking almost two-thirds of or our general revenue. Managing the demand on our volunteers, with the growth in call volume, 20% increase in 2023, along with station and vehicle maintenance, and Community Outreach. In addition the training that is required of our members to stay current and assure we are prepared for the calls we are dispatched to.
