Mary Yvonne Cannon “Red”, age 84, passed away Friday, July 7th, at her home in Truesdale. Mary was born on November 24, 1938, to the late Elmer and Gladys Kelley in Zinc, Arkansas.
Mary was united in marriage to John Cannon on May 8th, 1957, and shortly thereafter moved to Truesdale, where she would spend the rest of her life.
Mary worked for years at Rite Sole Corp, both in Wright City and Truesdale. She enjoyed watching westerns and game shows on TV, playing bingo, and an occasional trip to the casino to play slots. In her later years, she enjoyed watching her daughter and grandchildren play pool. Mary was known by all as a feisty redhead, who was stubborn and opinionated, but who also deeply loved her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her.
Mary is survived by her two children, Jerry Cannon (Kathy), and Brenda Cannon, both of Truesdale. Seven grandchildren Jason Cannon, Jennifer Cannon, John Cannon, Anthony Snyder, Brian Snyder, Shawn Snyder, and Samantha Brooks, all of Warrenton and 14 great-grandchildren. Sister Joyce Herndon (Willie) of Truesdale and brother Danny Kelley (Frankie) of Flippin Arkansas.
Mary Cannon was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, one great-grandson Bryson, three brothers Joe Kelley, Jimmy Kelley and Dean Kelley, five sisters Loretta Mullins, Ella Johnson, Wanda Langston, Eva Kelley and Shirley Scarberry.
The family will host a celebration of Mary's life on Thursday, July 13, 4 P.M. - 6 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton. They will then honor her with a funeral ceremony beginning at 6 P.M. on Thursday, July 13, also at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Association c/o Martin Funeral Home.
