Marthasville Fire Protection District volunteer firefighters practiced critical ice rescue skills Saturday, Jan. 20, as the temperature hovered near zero degrees. Thickness of the ice on the Buescher Lake was nearly five inches. Specialty ice rescue suits and rescue gear are used during the training. Ice rescue are always a possibility in Warren County. Area firefighters train in this necessary skill whenever temperatures and the safety of the ice allow. Pictured from left are firefighter Donovan Smith, Lt. Morgan Gratza and Chief Sean Johnson.
