A Warrenton man is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly resisting arrest on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the local Walmart while armed with a loaded handgun.

Gabrielle Huette was charged Aug. 23 with third-degree assault of a special victim and possession or use of a metal penetrating bullet during the commission of a crime, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Police responded to the Warrenton Walmart around 10:45 p.m. the previous day “for a report of a male carrying a rifle-style weapon in the store,” according to a probable cause statement.

Huette, who was carrying a handgun in a holster at his waist, was found to have two active arrest warrants. Police attempted to arrest him, but “Huette attempted to jump into his vehicle and began physically resisting arrest,” according to the statement.

When an officer attempted to take Huette’s gun from its holster, Huette allegedly began trying to grab the gun. Although the officer was able to take the gun away from Huette, he continued resisting, according to the statement, leading to police having to call for backup from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.

Police were eventually able to restrain Huette. After arresting him, they found that the gun he had been carrying was loaded, with 12 hollow-point bullets in the magazine.

Huette, born in 1999, is being held without bond at the Warren County Jail.
