Follow these live updates of the snow storm that has shut down part of Interstate 70 through Warren County MO. Parts of the highway remain closed between Warrenton and Wright City.

I-70 is open in both directions in Warren County, but traffic is moving slowly

4:08 a.m. update: It does not appear there will be any additional news this morning. The Record will pick up its reporting later Saturday.

3:57 a.m. update: The MoDOT traveler map reports that the right lane of eastbound I-70 west of Warrenton is open, but also says drivers should expect delays as traffic begins moving.

3:54 a.m. update: Highway TT from the intersection with Highway D and Highway T to Dutzow remains closed in Warren County.

3:36 a.m. update: The Warren County EMA reports that the eastbound lanes of I-70 are open, but because of the substantial traffic backups it will take time for traffic to start moving.

The roadway remains slick and drivers are urged to use caution. MoDOT crews are treating the raodway, and first responders are checking on drivers in traditional vehicles, UTVs/ATVs, and sometimes on foot. Drivers are asked to be alert to their presence.

3:20 a.m. update: MoDOT appears to be revising its estimate for when eastbound I-70 will reopen by 30 minutes every half hour.

3:15 a.m. update: MoDOT has revised its estimates again, and now says that eastbound I-70 could reopen at 3:45 a.m.

2:50 a.m. update: MoDOT is now estimating that eastbound I-70 will reopen at 3:15 a.m.

2:48 a.m. update: The Warren County EMA reports that westbound traffic on I-70 is moving, but "very slowly."

2:34 a.m. update: Westbound I-70 at Wright City is open.

2:26 a.m. update: A commenter on the Warren County Record Facebook page says "it's turning into a crisis out here. We have several POV's that have run out of gas. Even if and when it reopens we are gonna have a mess."

2:25 a.m. update: MoDOT has revised its estimate again for when eastbound I-70 will open. They are now projecting it to be open by 2:45 a.m.

2:07 a.m. update: MoDOT has revised its estimate for when westbound I-70 at Wright City will reopen to 3:15 a.m.

1:47 a.m. update: MoDOT has revised its estimate for when eastbound I-70 will reopen to 2:15 a.m.

1:32 a.m. update: According to the Warren County EMA, MoDOT equipment is active in the area of exit 191.

The EMA also reports that westbound traffic is moving in Wright City, but is being diverted to the service road at Exit 200.

Traffic is backed up in the westbound lanes to about mile marker 204 east of Foristell, and from mile marker 190 to about Highway 19 in Montgomery County.

1:25 a.m. update: According to Jim Sharp, the Warren County EMA director, a jack-knifed tractor-trailer is blocking both lanes of eastbound I-70 at mile marker 190.

1:23 a.m. update: The MoDOT traveler map again shows eastbound I-70 west of Warrenton as closed. There is an estimated reopening time of about 1:45 a.m., but MoDOT has revised every estimated opening time for this section of the interstate, as well as the westbound section at Wright City.

1:15 a.m. update: Despite the MoDOT map no longer showing eastbound I-70 west of Warrenton as closed or delayed, Wright City Alderman Ramiz Hakim says "west of High Hill, nothing is moving" on his Facebook page.

1:10 a.m. update: MoDOT has adjusted its estimated time of reopening westbound I-70 between mile markers 199 and 200 in Wright City to 2:15 a.m.

1:03 a.m. update: The Missouri State Highway Patrol has a post on its Facebook page that says that the issue is tractor trailers are having difficulty getting up hills because of the roads refreezing between milemarkers 190 and 200 in Warren County.

12:57 a.m. update: MoDOT is currently estimating that the westbound section of I-70 between mile markers 199 and 200 in Wright City could reopen at 1:15 a.m.

12:55 a.m. update: At this point, it appears eastbound I-70 west of Warrenton is open. The MoDOT traveler map is no longer showing that section of road as closed or delayed, but there has been no official confirmation from MoDOT. The map indicates it is "mostly clear" of snow and ice.

12:48 a.m. update: The MoDOT traveler map is no longer showing the stretch of eastbound I-70 as closed or delayed.

12:18 a.m. update: MoDOT has updated its traveler map to say that the eastbound section of I-70 that has been closed for several hours is now experiencing "possible delays" and that the most recenrt accident was cleared at 12:05 a.m.

12:01 a.m. update: The Warren County EMA reports there has been another crash on eastbound I-70 at mile marker 191 west of Warrenton. There is now no estimated clearance time.

11:52 p.m. update: According to the MoDOT traveler map, Interstate 70 between mile markers 199 and 200 in Wright City has been closed again. There is no new estimated time of reopening.

One lane of that section of the interstate had reopened shortly after 10 p.m.

11:50 p.m. update: The Cupid Shuffle fun run/walk that was scheduled for Saturday at Warrenton High School has been postponed, according to an email received at 11:33 p.m.

11:37 p.m. update: MoDOT is now estimating that the eastbound section of I-70 west of Warrenton that has been closed for almost eight hours will not reopen until 1:15 a.m. at the earliest.

MoDOT has also adjusted its full reopening time for the westbound I-70 between mile markers 199 and 200 to 12:30 a.m. 

11:32 p.m. update: Wright City Alderman Ramiz Hakim reports that part of the issue between mile markers 199 and 200 in Wright City is that tractor-trailers are getting stuck on the icy incline.

11:27 p.m. update: A new issue at mile marker 203 near Foristell and the Warren County line has closed westbound I-70 at that location. MoDOT reports an impact at 11:23 p.m., and estimates this closure to last at least an hour.

11:19 p.m. update: MoDOT is now estimating that the section of westbound I-70 between mile markers 199 and 200 will be fully reopened by 11:30 p.m.

11:09 p.m. update: MoDOT is now estimating that the section of eastbound I-70 west of Warrenton will reopen at 11:45 p.m.

10:51 p.m. update: According to the MoDOT traveler map, the interstate has reopened at Church Street in Wentzville.

10:25 p.m. update: The Warren County EMA reports that one lane of westbound I-70 has reopened in Warren County. Their information says it will take quite awhile to get traffic moving again.

The MoDOT traveler map has been updated to state that the left lane of westbound I-70 remains closed with an expected reopening time of 11 p.m.

10:19 p.m. update: MoDOT has updated its road conditions map and now shows the section of I-70 between mile markers 199 and 200 as "expect delays," though it says both lanes remain closed. MoDOT lists an expected reopening time of 11 p.m.

The section of eastbound I-70 closed west of Warrenton shows as remaining closed with no new estimated time of reopening.

10:09 p.m. update: Delays continue on Interstate 70. Two more sections of the highway, both near Warren County but in St. Charles County, are being affected.

Delays are expected on westbound I-70 near Foristell. MoDOT's travelor map indicates that there are emergency vehicles on the highway past the intersection of Highways T and W. MoDOT estimates that delay could be over by 10:15 p.m.

However, westbound I-70 is closed due to a two vehicle crash near Church Street in Wentzville. That closure is expected to last until at least 11 p.m.

There have been no further updates from MoDOT regarding the two sections of I-70 that remain closed in Warren County.

9:46 p.m. update: MoDOT now estimates that the section of westbound I-70 between mile markers 199 and 200 won't be reopened until 11:15 p.m. MoDOT also estimates that the section of eastbound I-70 west of Warrenton won't be reopened until 10:15 p.m.

9:14 p.m. update: MoDOT is now estimating that westbound I-70 between mile markers 199 and 200 in Wright City will remain closed until 9:45 p.m.

8:25 p.m. update: According to an email from MoDOT sent at 7:45 p.m., the eastbound lanes of I-70 at mile marker 190 remain closed because of a traffic accident. Westbound I-70 is currently restricted to one lane at mile marker 191. 

A vehicle crash reported at 7:43 p.m. has also shut down westbound I-70 between exits 199 and 200 in Wright City. MoDOT is estimating that the highway will be closed for at least 90 minutes.

8:19 p.m. update: Interstate 70 is shut down again, according to MoDOT. In a Facebook post made by Wright City Alderman Ramiz Hakim, he is warning his followers to stay off the interstate because "it's a complete sheet of ice."

7:45 p.m. update: MoDOT expects eastbound I-70 to reopen west of Warrenton by 9:15 p.m.

7:10 p.m. update: This video from about 5 p.m. Feb. 16 shows some traffic moving in the westbound lanes, but most traffic still stuck as the interstate remained closed. The interstate is open from milemarker 200 to 190.

Also, the Warren County EMA reports that both lanes of Highway 47 are now open from Warrenton to Marthasville.

6:16 p.m. update: The Warren County EMA reports that Westbound I-70 is reopen at mile marker 200, but remains completely blocked at mile marker 190 west of Warrenton. The service roads are also backed up with westbound traffic.

5:25 p.m. update: Some traffic on westbound I-70 has started to move. The westbound left lane remains still remains closed.

4:40 p.m. update: State Highway 47 remains down to one lane at Crow Road, and State Highway TT remains completely closed.

The winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service has expired.

4:35 p.m. update: Westbound I-70 is closed from mile marker 200 in Wright City to milemarker 191 west of Warrenton, according to the Warren County EMA.

Westbound traffic is exiting the interstate at exit 200. To continue westbound, drivers are being sent down the service road through Warrenton, past Highway 47 to the Highway A/B interchange at mile marker 188.

4:25 p.m. update: According to an email from MoDOT, the westbound lanes of I-70 remain closed. Eastbound I-70 is currently restrited to one lane at mile marker 191. MoDOT does not have an estimated time that the westbound lanes will re-open.

3:18 p.m. update: According to the Warren County EMA, Highway 47 is down to one lane at Crow Road. Traffic is backed up significantly in the area because of two tractor-trailers that have gone off the road.

3:10 p.m. update: MoDOT reports that Highway TT is also closed.

3:03 p.m. update: The service roads are open, but heavy traffic is causing cars on both Veterans Memorial Parkway and the North Service Road to move slowly.

3:02 p.m. update: Almost 5 inches of snow has fallen in Warrenton since the storm began.

3:00 p.m. update: Interstate 70 westbound is shut down in Warren County. Traffic is being diverted into Wright City. The closure has the highway backed up through Foristell and into the Wentzville Parkway exit, according to Wright City Alderman Ramiz Hakim.

Hakim also says I-70 traffic is being diverted at exit 188 into Warrenton.

1:50 p.m. update: The National Weather Service has Warren County under a winter weather advisory until 4 p.m.

Westbound Interstate 70 is shutdown between Wright City and Warrenton because of a multi-car crash.

Officers are currently on scene, but there is no word from Warren County officials, MoDOT, or the Missouri State Highway Patrol when the roadway may be open.

Wright City Alderman Ramiz Hakim reports that the Interstate has been completely shutdown through Warren County.
