Why is it the Warrenton Fire Protection District sends a unit on many ambulance calls? That is the primary reason I did not vote for the increase in sales tax.
Another reason is that Warrenton sales taxes are among the highest in the state. If we truly need additional funds for fire reasons, then a property tax increase would be appropriate.
I could agree with a police presence on an ambulance call more than a fire department presence. Ambulance responses to a fire call are also appropriate.
I also understand that volunteers are quitting while other departments are reporting an increase in volunteerism. Why is that? It seems that we have a leadership crisis in our fire department.
