To the Editor,
The Warrenton Fire Protection District does not listen to the voice of the citizens. To place the same proposition on the ballot within 90 days of being voted down by over a 60 percent majority, highlights the district and board’s lack of respect for the citizens within their district, as well as their management failures. Magnifying the situation is the fact that this is the Warrenton Fire Protection District and Board’s fifth attempt for a tax increase within the past six years.
Warrenton Fire Protection District citizens have consistently and continuously provided feedback to the district and the board on what actions and changes are necessary to effectively and efficiently manage the Warrenton Fire Protection District. The Warrenton Fire Protection District needs to re-establish the best-of-the-best reputation it previously held, through active partnership and utilization of the many Warren County volunteers, who continue to offer support, bringing valuable knowledge, training and assistance.
The volunteer partnership with the Warrenton Fire Protection District has decreased by more than 75 percent in the past five years, while our neighboring communities have proactively and effectively utilized their growing volunteer support. Efficient and effective management of taxpayer’s money, coupled with respect of all citizens, negates the need for a tax increase.
Do not be misled that the ISO rating materially impacts your cost of homeowners insurance!
