Lester W. Wilmes

Lester W. Wilmes of Wright City, passed away on August 30, at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen Wilmes (née: Bischoff) of Wright City; He is survived by his four brothers, Earl (Barbara) Wilmes of Falmouth, KY, Harry Wilmes of Josephville, Raymond (Rita) Wilmes of O' Fallon, Donald (JoAnn) Wilmes of Josephville; two sisters, Janet Giesmann of Wentzville, Lucille Hepperman of Josephville; sister-in- law, Paulette Wilmes; many, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Wilmes, mother, Clara Wilmes (née: Albers), brother, Jim Wilmes, brother, Jerry Wilmes, sister-in-law, Patsy Wilmes, sister-in-law, Marie  Wilmes, brother-in-law, Roy Giesmann, brother-in-law, Rich Heppermann. 

Lester and Kathleen were united in marriage and shared many wonderful years together before Kathleen’s passing. Lester proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as an infantryman and was honored with the Purple Heart for his service and sacrifice.

Lester was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Warrenton. He had a love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed spending time caring for his property. He loved working in his garden, caring for his lake, and taking great pride in the things he loved. He was also a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed traveling.

But most of all, Lester will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The Wilmes family is beings served by Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville.  Memorials can be made in honor of Lester memorials to the Wounded Warriors in care of Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville. 

A visitation will be held Friday, September 11, 2:30 P.M. to 7 P.M. Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville.  The funeral will be Saturday, September 12, at 
10 A.M., St. Joseph Catholic Church in Josephville.
