The Wright City boys basketball team won in an exhilarating 50-49 game against Winfield on Jan. 16. The Wildcats trailed 49-48 with a little over a minute left, until Lavarious Green made a layup with nine seconds left on the clock to put Wright City in the lead. Winfield attempted a three-point shot with two seconds left, but missed. Duan McRoberts led Wright City with 19 points, while Jersiah Higgins had 16. Dayton Humphreys tallied 10 points.
The next day, the Wildcats hosted Christian Fellowship. Wright City fell 61-47 and was down at the end of each quarter (19-16, 30-18, 41-26). The Wildcats will play next at the Hermann Invitational from Jan. 27 to Feb. 1.
