Kevin Alden Smith, 75, of Warrenton, passed away peacefully at his home on February 6,  with family by his side.

Born August 20, 1948, in Keokuk, IA. He was the son of Sherm and Bobbie (Mosley) Smith and grew up in Carthage, IL. As a young boy, he worked alongside his mother at the Carthage newsstand. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1966. After high school he continued his education at Keokuk Community College and Northeast Missouri State University.

Kevin married Cynthia (Cindi) L. Clark on February 7th, 1971 in Denver, Illinois. Kevin treasured their relationship and each anniversary he sent his bride a dozen long stemmed red roses. The week preceding his death he made sure to continue that tradition and have roses delivered to Cindi on their anniversary, February 7th. When he passed on February 6, they were one day shy of being married 53 years.

Kevin started his career in 1970 working for Benner Tea Company (bought out by Aldi Foods in 1976) in West Burlington, IA.  In 1979 he and his family relocated to Warrenton, MO, where he continued his career with Aldi. Kevin worked proudly as the Director of Aldi Warehousing for 35 years until retiring in 2010.

Kevin was known for his selfless attitude, giving heart, and exceptional work ethic. He was an avid sports fan (especially the St. Louis Cardinals!) and athlete himself. He spent many years playing  basketball, softball, tennis, and volleyball with friends. He found joy in spending time with his grandkids and attending their activities. Playing and teaching the card game pitch with his grandkids and family was one of his favorite pastimes.

Kevin and Cindi Smith have attended Grace Bible Church for many years and truly value the fellowship that believers have in Jesus Christ.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Cindi, of Warrenton; two daughters, KaLyn (Danny) Fuemmeler of Boonville, Kena (Dana Valencia) Beyer of St. Louis; and son Kurt Smith of Warrenton; four grandchildren, Bryce, Hannah, and Abby Fuemmeler, and Kevin (KJ) Beyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; Sherm and Bobbie Smith.

A visitation will be held Saturday, February 24, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Grace Bible Church in Warrenton. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with burial at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, IL.  Memorials can be made to Grace Bible Church or Agape Community Outreach in care of Pitman Funeral Home.
