John Shelton of Montgomery City, passed away on August 10, at the age of 81.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ann Shelton (nee:Spink); He is survived by his three children, Lisa Shelton-Larkin of St. Charles, Kristin (Brad) Huffman of St. Peters; son, Doug (Kelly) Shelton of Lake St. Louis; brother, Jim (Marlene) Shelton of Chesterfield; eight grandchildren, Blake, (Kayse), Alex, (Kenzie), Mitchell, Ashley, Paige, Jack, Riley, Reagan; five great-grandchildren, Charlie, Anna, Emerson, Eleanor, Everly; He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Shelton, mother, Ruth Shelton (nee: Haintel), wife, Mary Ann Shelton.
John was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Warrenton. He served in the past as a board member for the Mark Twain Bank, a past board member of the Montgomery County fair for 25 years, and a member of the National Elk Federation. He was the largest Ostrich breeder in the Midwest. John is a 10 year recipient of a heart transplant that he received in January of 2014. He was an entertainer and always had a great time. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, tending to his garden and just being outdoors. John would often travel and vacation in Florida and Island of St. Thomas. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
