Chart-topping country musician Joe Nichols will headline the Warrenton Fall Festival entertainment this year, the city announced last week.
Nichols has been recording country hits for two decades, including “Brokenheartsville,” “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off,” and “Sunny and 75.”
Nichols was unveiled as this year’s main stage performer on Feb. 21 by city Director of Operations Jon Struckhoff.
“Joe Nichols is a country star who came up in the ’90s, and he still today is putting out hits. His most recent one was just last year,” Struckhoff commented.
Warrenton’s Fall Festival is scheduled for Sept. 23 this year, with Nichols taking the main stage at 7:30 p.m. The concert and all the other entertainment at the Fall Festival are free to attend, paid for partly by a special hotel tourism tax.
Struckhoff noted that vendors who sell food and craft items at the Fall Festival are also booking their spots on Main Street already, and that enthusiasm for the annual event continues to be high.
“People are calling once a week looking to get set up as vendors already. It’s going to be just as big as last year, I imagine,” he commented.
Warrenton has also published a schedule for other events and activities at this year’s Fall Festival, including several returning favorites.
Butch Wax & the Hollywoods, a popular classic hits cover band, will return again this year to play the festival’s second stage from noon to 3 p.m. They’ll be followed by the band Savana from 4-6:30 p.m.
Near the second stage at the east end of Main Street, a car and motorcycle show will once again host a wide variety of vehicles starting at noon. There will be a judged competition at the show, with an entry fee of $25 per competing vehicle.
And the festival’s younger visitors can look forward to the return of the Kids Korner, a side street area with games, activities and entertainers for children.
“More entertainment and activities are being planned, so we recommend visiting our website www.warrenton-mo.org or our Facebook page for updates,” city officials told The Record.
