Mrs. Jennie Marie Marschel (nee: Joedicke) of Warrenton passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Grandview Nursing Home in Washington. She was born on May 5, 1927, in Hillsboro, MO, to the late Louis and Anna (nee: Bernasek) Joedicke. Jennie had reached the age of 94 years.
Jennie was united in marriage to Harold Marschel on May 31, 1947. They celebrated 52 wonderful years together before his passing in July of 1999. To this union, three children were born, Judy, Jim, and Ruth. Jennie was a homemaker for most of her adult life. She enjoyed caring for her husband and children. She attended Immanuel UCC Holstein. She was a very resourceful woman; she had a garden and did many hours of canning. She also still hung her laundry out to dry. Jennie enjoyed being outside, picking blackberries, and watching the wild birds and the squirrels. She was very fond of hummingbirds and dogs. Jennie loved playing Scrabble, Rummy, and Pitch. She also loved to travel with her friends and family and enjoyed quilting in her spare time. She loved her church and her church family. Jennie was a devoted Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
Jennie Marschel was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents, Louis and Anna; her brother, Emil Joedicke; five half-siblings, Louis Joedicke, Ann Hilse, Ollie Kempa, Minnie Kempa, Andrew Kempa; and one son-in-law, Kenneth Engemann. Those who are grateful for having shared in Jennie's life are her children, Judy Bayer and husband Dan, Jim Marschel and wife Karen, and Ruth Marschel; four grandchildren, Becky Gibson, John Bayer (Shawnna), Jason Marschel (Joanne), Jesse Marschel (Amanda); 8 great-grandchildren, Danny Gibson (Lauren), Derrik Gibson (Melissa), Colleen Bayer, Courtney Bayer, Madelyn Marschel, Morgan Marschel, Joni Marschel, and Jenna Marschel; 5 great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Henry, Aubrey, Jamison, and Lexa; special friends, Cathy Schroeder, Judy Heggemann, Loleen Dieckman and Barb Helle; other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Jennie Marschel will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Immanuel UCC in Holstein. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., also at the church. Burial will follow at the Immanuel UCC Cemetery.
