Mr. James Edward Givens of Warrenton passed away July 1, 2022. He was born July 30, 1941, in Warrenton to the late James Andrew and Alice Beth (Nee: Blake) Givens. He had reached the age of 80 years.
Jim married the love of his life, Donna Lou Slatten, at the Warrenton Baptist Church parsonage at the age of 19. They were happily married for 61 years and to this union, three children, Nora, Belinda and Kevin, were born. Jim was a welder by trade and was very proud of his work. He started his career with NPD, a contractor for the US Navy. He also worked on barges and helped build the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant. When he wasn't working his full time job, he could be found working on side jobs and tinkering in his garage for people in the community. He could fix anything, including demo derby cars, which he liked to watch! He also enjoyed gardening, hunting quail with his bird dogs or buying lottery tickets in hopes of winning the big one. What he loved more than anything was spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; children, Nora Timmer (Michael), Belinda Stock (Gary) and Kevin Givens; grandchildren, Jamie Wray (Morio), Jesse Mueller (Mallory), Courtenay Givens, Mitchell Stock and Zoé Pallardy; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Lockhart; many other friends and family.
