Jacquelyn R. Dickherber, 90, Wentzville, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020.

She was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert "Steve" Dickherber, of Wentzville. She is survived by her four sons, David Ray Dickherber, of St. Peters, Mark Steven Dickherber of Wentzville, Kevin James (Rhonda) Dickherber, of Wentzville, and Keith Alan (Kim) Dickherber, of Wentzville; two daughters, Karen Suzann (James) Rhodes, of Wentzville, and Lisa Joann (Mike) Mortenson, of Columbia; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Suzann Wooldridge of San Antonio, Texas, and Bonnie Plesko, of Pontiac, Illinois

She is preceded in death by her father, William "Jack" Ray; mother, Frances Susann Ray; sister, JoAnn Rogers; brother, Frank H. Ray, and daughter-in-law, Sonja Dickherber. Jacque Dickherber was a woman of action who loved to work, loved her family and loved sports. Jacque was an astute businesswoman. She and her husband, Steve, built and ran the Best Western Heritage Motel while raising six small children. After selling the motel, Jacque made a name for herself in Real Estate, a profession she continued into her eighties. She served on the St. Charles County Fair Board, Wentzville Business and Professional Women, Wentzville Retirement Committee, Wentzville Historical Society and the Wentzville Chamber of Commerce. To say she was active in the community is an understatement! Jacque also loved her family. Regardless of the time she spent working in the community she was always there for her family with home-baked cookies, a shoulder to cry on and an encouraging word. Jacque had a little streak of rebellion in her which made her accepting of others when they found themselves in a bit of trouble. She was not judgmental, yet she had sound advice. She was “Mom” not only to her own children but to her children’s friends and spouses too. And when it came to her grandchildren, she was always the doting “Grandma Punkin.” Jacque could always be found in front of the TV whenever her beloved St. Louis Cardinals were playing ball. She was also an avid supporter of the Mizzou Tigers. What other grandmother planned her annual Saturday Thanksgiving meal around football? Yet, with all of that, she still kept up with all that was going on in Wentzville and around the world. Jacque was not a woman to ever “dish the dirt.” She was an ardent conversationalist. She loved to debate local politics, had strong opinions about the value of education – both college and trade schools, and she was interested in others’ ideas and opinions. Unlike many with strong opinions, Jacque was willing to change her mind if she felt your argument was more valid than her own. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
