Harold O. Temme of Warrenton passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living in Warrenton. Harold was born on July 28, 1926, in Amsterdam, Missouri, to Louis and Elsie Temme. He had reached the age of 93.
Harold proudly served our country in the United States Army Counter Intelligence Corps during World War II. Using his GI Bill, Harold received a degree in liberal arts with a major in geographic mapping from Valparaiso University. He began a long career of civil service work in Alaska, Panama and Yap Island of The Federated States of Micronesia.
In 1988, he retired to Warrenton. During retirement, Harold traveled extensively, visiting 113 foreign countries. He also enjoyed creating more than 63 oil and acrylic paintings.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elsie; three brothers, Ralph, Norman and Elton; two sisters, Anita Carter and Carol Bryant; one nephew, Joel Temme; and one niece, Debbie DiMenna. He is survived by one sister, Lois Frick; 15 nieces, Katie McDowell (Steve), Miriam Lohmann (Willi), Marlene Schillreff (Al), Jeanneta Baugh (Ron), Carolyn Perkins, Charlotte Crago (Bill), Ruth Olson, Janet Regan (Tom), Susan Schultz (Fred), Diane Hoenerhoff (Rick), Cheryl Gordon, Judy Graves (Joe), Ann Auten (Greg), Lori Halsey (Evan), Teresa Dietz; seven nephews, Marvin (Patty), Kenneth (Miriam), Lowell (Debbie), Robert (Sabrina), Mark (Susan), Jon (Kelly), and Eric Bryant (Jennifer).
A memorial visitation for Mr. Temme is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warrenton, from 10-11 a.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m., also at the church. Burial will follow at a later date at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Emblem, WY.
