Glenn William Nordwald was born July 5, 1948, in Warrenton, MO. He passed away on January 18, 2021, surrounded by his family, at his home in New Florence, MO, following a long battle with Inclusion Body Myositis. He had reached the age of 72 years, 6 months, and 18 days. He was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Bonnie, in 1967. They celebrated more than 53 years together. Two children were born to this union, daughter Ginger and son Casey.
Glenn proudly served his country for over 13 years in the Missouri and Alabama National Guard.
Following graduation from Warren County R-III High School in 1966, he began working for his uncle drilling bauxite in Missouri and Alabama. He later worked in the mining of bauxite in Alabama.
After returning to Missouri in 1971 he worked as a mechanic at Myer Motor Company and Pendleton Lumber Company in Pendleton in 1973. He also began working at McClain Lime Quarry in 1973 as a welder and mechanic, later becoming the Quarry Superintendent and continuing there until his retirement due to his illness in 2010.
Glenn was always willing to help others. He was a member of the Warren County Fair Board for several years. He served multiple terms as a member and President of the board at St. John’s United Church of Christ in High Hill, as a Trustee for New Providence Cemetery Association in Bellflower, and as an Alderman for the City of New Florence.
Glenn was a member of Warrenton Masonic Lodge #609 and Grace Chapter #323 Order of the Eastern Star.
He enjoyed watching his children play high school and college sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved animals and always had a dog or 2 accompanying him. He loved when the hummingbirds returned each year.
is survived by his loving wife Bonnie (Cope) Nordwald of the home; his daughter Ginger Roberts (Dave) of St. Charles, and his son Casey Nordwald (Michelle) of Morrison, CO. 3 brothers: Charles (Nina), John (Linda) and Douglas of Warrenton. 1 brother-in-law, Robert F. Cope of Warrenton and 1 sister-in-law Kathleen Cope of Las Vegas. 5 grandchildren: Mollie Roberts of St. Charles, Wyatt Nordwald, Sierra Nordwald, Hazel Nordwald and Colton Nordwald of Morrison, CO. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Irene (Snell) Nordwald, father-in-law Robert M. Cope, mother-in-law Irene Callahan (Inlow) and her husband Buell, 1 brother George, 2 brothers-in-law Charles Cope and Lloyd Cope. Grandparents Henry and Minnie (Becker) Nordwald, and Glenn A. and Lucy (Beamer) Snell.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 202 Spruce Street, High Hill, MO 63350. Services will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Don Deeker officiating.
