Mr. Gilbert Henry Nordwald Jr. of Warrenton passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022. He was born on June 28, 1947, in Warrenton to the late Gilbert H. Sr. and Nellie E. Nordwald (nee: Cole). Gilbert had reached the age of 75 years and 6 days.
Gilbert was united in marriage to Sherry Ann (nee: Klem) on June 28, 1983, at Frieden's UCC in Warrenton and shared 39 wonderful years together. Gilbert spent many years at the Public Works Department in Truesdale, where he retired as the Director of Public Works. He loved being outside, going to the zoo, attending sporting events and spending time at his farm in Macon, MO. Gilbert had a love for old cars, especially his '70 Corvette, '47 Olds, '28 Graham Paige and his '29 Dodge. Along with his love for cars also came quite a hubcap collection. Most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren is what meant the most to him. He was a devoted Christian, being a member of Frieden's UCC his entire life, beloved husband, loving father and grandfather.
Those that are grateful for having shared in Gilbert's life are his beloved wife, Sherry; his children, Matt (Becky) Nordwald and Angela Hunke; his grandchildren, Taylor Nordwald, Nathan Nordwald, Maddy Hunke and Jack Hunke; brother, Don Jordan (Wanda); and his beloved pets, Reggie and G G (Gilbert's Goat). Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Jordan. He was a dear uncle, cousin and friend to many; he will be missed by all who knew him.
A visitation for Gilbert will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Frieden's UCC, Warrenton. Burial will follow in the Warrenton City Cemetery. Please bring any old cars that you may have to join in the procession in honor of Gilbert.
