German arts workshops at Luxenhaus Farm

The Missouri Humanities Council (MHC), in partnership with Luxenhaus Farm in Marthasville, will offer a variety of German Folk Arts workshops, teaching participants of all skill levels, about traditional 18th century German folk arts and crafts.The workshops are April 20, April 27, May 4 and May 11 at Luxenhaus Farm, 18055 State Highway O, Marthasville. Times vary by workshop. Topics offered this year include ceramic hand-building, blacksmithing, penny rug making, basket weaving, indigo dying, woodworking and candle making. Register online at mohumanities.org/german-heritage, by email to caitlin@mohumanities.org or call 314-781-9660.Luxenhaus Farm, known throughout the region for its Deutsch Country Days Festival that was held every October for over 30 years, is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the German heritage of Missouri.Though Deutsch Country Days ended in 2017, Missouri Humanities Council and Luxenhaus will continue working together to promote Missouri’s German heritage and culture.
