Gerald V. Ball of Wentzville, passed away on September 13, at the age of 98. He is survived by his beloved wife Essie Ball (née: McFerrin) of Wentzville; sister, Lou Yvonne Harrison of Wright City; five grandchildren, Norman (Diana) Ball Jr., Shoncia (Kendra) Ball, Dianna Ball, Mont'ee (Melissa) Ball, and Christopher (Robin) Ball; multiple great grandchildren; nieces, Joyce, Linda, Delores, MaryJo, Kim, and Gloria; and a host of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his Father, Edgar Ball, Mother, Lucy Ball (née: Jackson), Son, Norman Ray Ball, brother, Harold Ball, sister, Edna Jones, and nephews, Clyde, Milton, Eriskine and Donald.
Gerald and Essie were united in marriage on June 22, 2001, and shared many wonderful years together. Gerald proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was baptized into Central Baptist Church of Wentzville on August 13, 1961. He was a longtime member and dedicated deacon of Central Missionary Baptist Church, since 1964, where he helped build the church alongside his brother and fellow church members. His faith and commitment to his church family were an important part of his life.
Gerald worked as a quarryman and was well known for his blasting skills at Missouri Limestone. He later retired from the Wentzville R-IV School District. Gerald was a talented and hardworking man who could often be found in his garage, fixing or building just about anything. He enjoyed taking road trips, and he took great pride in maintaining his yard, always finding something to work on. But most of all, Gerald cherished his family and friends. Gerald will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The Ball famly is being served by Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville. A visitation will be held Friday, September 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m at Central Baptist Church in Wentzville.
