George William Hoelscher, 79, of Jonesburg passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022, surrounded by his family, while in the care of Community Loving Care Hospice of Bowling Green, MO.

George William Hoelscher was born on November 27, 1942, in Warrenton to the late Daniel and Anna (nee: Cuno) Hoelscher of Warrenton. George grew up in Warrenton and graduated from Warrenton High School in 1960. He joined the Missouri Military Police Company B, 175th Military Police (MP) Battalion (BN) in Columbia, MO, in 1964 for a six-year term of enlistment. He specialized as a Rifleman Sharpshooter. George was united in marriage to Phyllis Kay Fleahman on August 6, 1966, in Warrenton. They were blessed with four children, Mary, Michael, Gary and Timothy. George also has eight grandchildren, Kasey, Benjamin, Zachary, Mackenzie, Bailey, Adalyn, Andrew (AJ) and Isabella.

George was an avid farmer and trucker. He started George Hoelscher Trucking in 1967 and operated it until his death. He worked as a welder at the Binkley Company in Warrenton for two years. George Hoelscher Trucking leased semi trucks to several trucking companies, carrying freight across the US. George hauled and spread limestone and rock with his brother-in-law Edward Flake for over 10 years. George also hauled water to customers in Warren County and many nearby counties. He co-owned J&J Towing for many years. J&J Towing offered residential and commercial towing services to customers across the state. He took over the business full-time in the early 1980s. George also operated a successful septic system installation business. In 2014, George moved to the Fleahman family farm in Jonesburg. In 2017, he was awarded the Volunteer Service Award “for years of dedicated service to the Warren County Soil & Conservation District Annual Soils & Forestry Contests.” Through the years he made many friends and always took the time to talk to strangers and help whoever was in need. George was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warrenton and was one of the oldest living members of the church until his death. George was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.

George is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Phyllis; three children, Mary Gonzalez and husband Jose, Gary Hoelscher and wife Joanna, and Timothy Hoelscher and wife Amy; eight grandchildren, AJ and Isabella Gonzalez, Benjamin, Zachary and Adalyn Hoelscher, and Kasey, Mackenzie and Bailey Hoelscher; three siblings, Loretta Flake and husband Edward, Walter Hoelscher and wife Regina, and Roy Hoelscher; many nieces, nephews and cousins; other relatives and many friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Anna; and his son, Michael.

A visitation for George Hoelscher will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, also in Warrenton. Burial will follow at the Jonesburg City Cemetery.
