Frederick "Fred" Alvin Borges

Mr. Frederick Alvin Borges, of Marthasville, passed away on Sunday, May 7,  at his home. He was born on May 13, 1928, in Marthasville to the late Benjamin and Mathilda (nee: Kuenzel) Borges. Fred had reached the age of 94.

Fred proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Glosemeyer on September 12, 1959. They celebrated over 63 wonderful years together. Fred was a lifelong resident of Marthasville and a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. He worked as a farmer his entire life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, clay bird shooting, and going to the casino. Fred was a caring man, he loved his family deeply and was the caretaker of several of his relatives. 

Fred Borges was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Mathilda; four siblings, Martha Borges, Irene Pohl, Anne Sommers, and Mary Ann Oatmann; his in-laws, Lawrence and Armella Glosemeyer; one brother-in-law, Dennis Glosemeyer.  Surviving family members are his loving wife, Shirley; nieces and nephews, Mary Orf and husband Andrew, Annette Cecil and husband John and Neil Oatmann and wife Diane; three brothers-in-law, Kenneth Glosemeyer and wife Jane, Andrew Glosemeyer and wife Candace and Donald Glosemeyer and wife Carleen; several great nieces and nephews; other close relatives and many friends.

We will honor Fred's life on Wednesday, May 10, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Concord Hill from 8:30 A.M. - 10 A.M. A Funeral Mass will follow, beginning at 10 A.M. also at the church. Burial will be at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church Cemetery.  Memorial donations made in honor of Fred Borges are suggested to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital or to Masses of St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
