Evan Downing Avery, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, May 5, in Columbia. He was born on January 12, 2008, to Brian and Tonya (nee: Barber) Avery. Evan had reached the age of 15.
Evan attended Rock Bridge High School in Columbia. He was very athletic and played football for his high school team as the quarterback. He began playing football and basketball when he was six years old. Evan always went the extra mile, putting in the extra workouts and always aiming to please his coaches, teammates, and family. He was very selfless, putting his family and teammates ahead of himself. Evan's family was extremely important and special to him. He loved going on family vacations. He had an incredible sense of humor and the BEST hair. He had a tremendous amount of close friends that he loved hanging out with. Evan was an exceptional son, brother, grandson, cousin, athlete, student, and friend to so many, his absence will be felt for many years to come.
Evan Avery was preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry Avery. Surviving family members include his parents, Brian and Tonya Avery; one sister, Maddie; grandparents, Karen Avery, Sylvia "Bobbie" and Roger Thompson; aunts and uncles, Mark Avery and wife Kim, Ray Barber, Shellie Pisciotta, and husband Dave; cousins, Alisa (Trevor), Austin (Kaiyla), Erika, Ethan (Rachel), Autumn and special cousin, Ella; other relatives and close friends.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton from 10 A.M. - 1 P.M. Funeral services will begin at 1 P.M. also at the funeral home with Pastor Bill LaMora officiating. Memorial donations made in honor of Evan Avery are suggested to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital c/o Martin Funeral.
