Sadlo, Eleanor Piazza, age 100, died peacefully Wednesday, June 5, in her home on Lake Sherwood, surrounded by family.
Eleanor was born in Cuba, Missouri on February 21, 1924 and was loving, kind, selfless, intelligent, well-informed, beautiful and thoughtful for all of her glorious 100 years. Her parents were Antonio L. Piazza (a US Army WWl veteran) and Mary A. DeLuca, both Italian immigrants. Eleanor married Edward Gilbert Sadlo Jr (who piloted Navy sea planes in WWII) and they raised eight children; Barbara, Eddie, Peggy, Greg, Todd, Brian, Joan and Mary Beth. Those of us who remain, deeply feel her absence and will miss her warmth and support. She was always there for all of us. It was her love for us and of life that sustained her and carried her through a century of time, living independently and with grace. Eleanor is survived by six of her children, ten grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. She will be missed.
Services will be on Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m. with visitation being held in Weber Hall of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in New Melle, Missouri, followed by an 11 a.m. mass, urn interment and lunch.
In lieu of flowers, please give generously to your favorite charity with Eleanor in mind. The family of Eleanor Sadlo is being served by Pitman Funeral Home-Wentzville.
