Edwin "Ed" Van Horn passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2022. Ed was born on June 13, 1941, in St. Louis County to the late Oscar and Frieda Van Horn (nee: Schroeder).
When Ed was 10, his family moved to a farm on State Highway W in Warrenton. Ed graduated from Warren County R-III in 1959 and then joined the National Guard soon after. Ed was eventually was able to start farming; he farmed until 1983 when he started driving a truck over the road.
Ed married his wife Pam on February 26, 1983, and spent 39 wonderful years together. Ed had four children, Rick, Mark, Chris and Dan. He is the beloved husband of Pam, loving father of Rick (Tracy), Mark (Amy), Chris (Wendy) and Dan (Sara); eight grandchildren, Eric (Chelsey), Jonathan (Hannah), Heather, Faith, Ryan, Tyler, Ella and Emily; two great-grandsons, Maverick and Wesley; dear brother of Ralph (Nancy); uncle of niece Becky (JJ); brother-in-law of Nancy, and dear son-in-law of Vivian Upchurch. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Erna; sister-in-law Wanda; and nephew Randy.
Ed loved International Tractors, going on long vacations with Pam in their RV, working on their garden and helping can the vegetables. He loved sitting on his porch with Pam watching the hummingbirds or just being home and working on projects around their home. Ed was very handy and could fix or repair anything; he also enjoyed woodworking. Ed loved his church, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jonesburg, where he was proud to be an elder. He had the privilege to help build the church when it moved to Jonesburg. Ed also enjoyed his Tuesday morning breakfasts with good friends. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
A visitation for Ed will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022, with funeral services to immediately follow, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jonesburg. Burial will be in the Jonesburg City Cemetery. Memorial donations are appreciated to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Jonesburg or Warren County FFA in honor of Ed.
