Doris Ann Brakensiek passed away on February 1, at the age of 90. Doris was born March 30, 1934 in Wright City, to the late Erwin and Martha Groeper nee Jaspering.
Doris Ann loved quilting, reading, socializing, and traveling. Doris was a faithful member of Immanuel UCC in Wright City. Doris was the City Clerk for Wright City for 5 years, after that she went on to be a mail carrier for Wright City Post Office for 17 years until her retirement. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband Emmet up until his passing in 2022. Doris moved to Harton Senior Living in July 2023, she loved welcoming new residents and socializing with the many friends she made there.
Doris is survived by her five daughters, Nancy Logan of N. Little Rock, AR, Alice Zoellner of Wright City, Jane (Tony) Blanton of Wright City, Terri Baker of Warrenton, Gerri (Darrell) Smith of Wright City; 11 grandchildren Angela (Jason) Case, Brian Balkenbusch, Cheryl Rudy, Beth (Adam) Neldon, Michelle (Stephen) Feise, Antoinette (Josh) Soles, Sean Blanton, Justin Baker, Rikki Ann Baker, Matthew Vance, Megan Vance; 24 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband/childrens father, Norman H.W. Logan, 2nd husband, Emmet Brakensiek, and son, James Logan, brothers, Calvin and Gilbert Groeper, her sister Shirley Bunge, and great-grandson Thomas L. Neldon.
A visitation will be held Thursday, February 13, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home in Warrenton. The funeral will be Friday, February 14, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Immanuel UCC Women's Fellowship in care of Pitman Funeral Home.
