Mr. Donald Gene "Burg" Burgess of Warrenton, passed away Thursday, January 11. He was born July 28, 1946, in Mexico, MO, to the late O.Dee and Ethel (nee: Davidson) Burgess. Don had reached the age of 77 years.
Don was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Mary Ann Clarke on November 6, 1976. He was a graduate from Mizzou with a BA Degree in business. He owned and operated Burgess Ditching for many years. Don took great pride and joy with all of his work. He especially enjoyed working on his high lift. Don was a avid sports fan and in his younger years, he participated in football, basketball, baseball and softball. Don played football and basketball while he was in high school. He had many hobbies including horse racing, gambling, playing golf and playing cards with his buddies. Don would never pass on a good home cooked meal. Don was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
Don Burgess was preceded in death by his parents, O. Dee and Ethel Burgess and one great nephew, Andrew Moss. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; one daughter, Gina Roach and husband Scott; three grandchildren, Alex, Abby and Anna; one sister, Mary Jean Pollard; niece, Jenna Moss; great nephew, Justin Moss; and great niece, Kayla Moss; other relatives and many friends.
The family of Don Burgess will be hosting a Celebration of Life Visitation at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton on Friday, January 19, from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. We will then honor him with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 12 P.M., also at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to be given to the Warrenton Animal Shelter c/o Martin Funeral Home.
