Darryl L. Hicks passed away on June 12, after a brief illness. He was 84 years old. He was an attorney in Warrenton since 1963. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 6, 1938. His parents were Rev. Arthur R. Hicks, a Baptist Minister, and Marie Hicks. In 1959 he was united in marriage to Shirley Hicks, nee Ruggles. One child was born to this union, Tadd Hicks. Mr. Hicks attended high school in Jefferson City and graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1960 and obtained his law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1963. He moved to Warrenton and was admitted to the Missouri Bar that same year, and became associated with long-time attorney, Alvin H. Juergensmeyer, in the practice of law. 

Mr. Hicks served as Prosecuting Attorney for Warren County from 1967 through 1974. He served as city attorney for Marthasville from 1967 to 2008, city attorney for Wright City from 1984 to 2009, and city attorney for Warrenton from 1985 to 2006. He also served as attorney for the Warren County and Marthasville Ambulance Districts, and the Warrenton, Marthasville, Jonesburg-High Hill, and New Florence Fire Protection Districts. 

He was a long-time member of the Warrenton Chamber of Commerce, serving as its President in 1966; a member of the Warrenton Rotary Club, serving as its President for the 1975-1976 term; and a member of the Warrenton Lions Club, Warrenton Jaycees, and the Warrenton Elks Lodge.  Mr. Hicks served on the Board of Directors of The Missouri Bank since 1980 and was Chairman of the Board since 1998. 

Mr. Hicks was active in other community organizations and was one of the three co-founders of Booneslick Charities in 1995, which has been responsible for providing thousands of dollars to other local charities. 
Mr. Hicks and his wife were well-traveled having been inside the Kremlin, the Eiffel Tower, the Coliseum, Buckingham Palace, the Great Wall of China, and on an African Safari. 

Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Shirley Hicks, son and daughter-in-law, Tadd and Carin Hicks, grandchildren, Maddison Hicks Bridenbeck (Lukas Bridenbeck) and Nathan Hicks, a great-grandson, Otto Bridenbeck, and brother, Kent Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Marion and Bertha Lenox, and Alfred and Ida Hicks. 

Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton on Friday, June 16, from 3 P.M. - 7 P.M. Funeral services will be held at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton on Saturday, June 17,  at 10 A.M., with burial in the Warrenton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Warrenton Elks Club (#2662).
