Karrie Rosemann has been around the Warren County Fair since she was a little girl. The recent Warrenton High School graduate was just named the 2015 Warren County Fair Queen at the ceremony held June 30, at the Warren County Fairgrounds. Her journey to the crown was paved with sheep and a lot of hours put in at the Fair.“I grew up around the Fair and the 4-H atmosphere,” said Rosemann. “My family and I raise and show our lambs every year for the Warren County Fair and some local jackpot shows. We have been raising cross lambs for 19 years.”Rosemann has shown lambs since she was eight years old and has also shown rabbits, dogs, and horses in the past. Her involvement in the Fair dates back to her days as a Clover Kid and member of the Camp Branch 4-H Club. She participated in making projects to enter into the Fair’s exhibit hall, where 4-H members showcase their skills, from quilting to baking to painting.“I went to all the 4-H camps, judging events, tour days, and put almost everything I could under the sun in the exhibit hall at our Fair. I participated in as many projects as my club and community offered,” Rosemann said. When Rosemann entered high school, she joined FFA. She was also an avid member of the National Junior Honor Society, Gateway Saddle Club, as well as the volleyball and track teams. This summer, Rosemann’s Fair experience was not as routine as in other years. Running for Fair queen caused her to have to prepare even more than she usually would. But for Rosemann, it was realizing a dream.“I have wanted to run for Fair queen ever since I was little,” said Rosemann. “The fair queen is the face of the Fair. I remember when I was little that I used to think it was the greatest thing ever when I saw the queen get to give each exhibitor their ribbons after the show and get to talk up on stage.”Rosemann received help in her preparations for the competition from her mother and two sisters, who have each ran for queen in the past. She also recited her speech to her co-workers at Orscheln’s Farm and Home store.“I was extremely nervous for the judging day and the coronation night,” she said. “I think all the girls that ran could back me up on that!”When her name was announced as queen at the coronation ceremony, Rosemann felt that all her hard work paid off.“I was more shocked than anything when my name was announced. My mom caught a picture of my face after I was called and my jaw was dropped to the floor,” Rosemann stated. “I was very happy after it sunk in.”Why did you want to compete in the fair queen contest?“I chose to compete in the fair queen contest, not only because I wanted to do it since I was little, but also because it is an amazing opportunity to get involved in the community and prepare yourself for a future career. Looking back, I’m very glad I did it because I had the chance to spend more time with my friends before we all go our separate ways this fall.”What was your favorite part of your senior year?“I would choose going to every football game and our senior day at Six Flags at the end of the year.”What are your future plans?"I plan to attend Lindenwood University and major in Elementary Education."Favorite Food: “Anything from Bandana’s Barbecue.”Favorite Music: “Country.”Favorite Song: “Dirt” by Florida Georgia Line.Favorite TV Show: “Fixer Upper.”Favorite Class: “Psychology.”Favorite Teacher: “Mr. Barton.”Karrie Rosemann
