Record Managing EditorA Warren County man is accused of burning his 2-year-old son by throwing hot water on him when he became agitated with the boy, authorities say.The toddler sustained second- and third-degree burns and was being treated at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, according to a probable cause statement. The boy’s father, identified as 27-year-old Aaron Null, was arrested around 4 p.m. Dec. 16 and charged with felony child abuse. He remains held in the Warren County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond. The abuse allegedly occurred between noon and 6:46 p.m. on Dec. 14 at a home in the 16000 block of North Lohman Road. Online court records list Null’s residence in the 600 block of Lakeside Lane.An investigation into the child abuse allegation began Dec. 15 when a social worker at the hospital contacted the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. The detective later learned the boy had suffered burns on his trunk, genitalia and butt, according to the probable cause statement. A third-degree burn is considered the most serious of three levels.Sheriff’s Kevin Harrison said the suspect had become angry at the boy prior to throwing the hot water.“To put hot water on a kid, that is torture,” Harrison said. While treating the boy, a doctor also observed other injuries in various stages on the boy’s face, head and back, Harrison said.During the investigation, Null was identified as the only person caring for the toddler at the time. The boy’s mother resides in Lincoln County, Harrison said.Null previously pleaded guilty to robbery in 2010 and drug charges in 2008, according to online court records.Aaron Null
