Charles Henry Driemeyer Jr.

Mr. Charles Henry Driemeyer Jr., of Marthasville, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, at the New Haven Care Center. He was born on November 30, 1925, in Wright City, to the late Charles H  Sr., and Anna L (nee: Rettke) Driemeyer. He had reached the age of 97.

Charles Driemeyer Jr. was a lifelong resident of Warren County. Charles proudly served our country in the United States Army in World War II and the Korean War. While in the military he earned several honors, including; WII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Overseas Bars, and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. He was involved in the battles at Rhineland and Central Europe. Charles was proud and honored to be a US Army Vet. Upon returning from the military, he met and married the love of his life, D'Arline Meyer. They were united in marriage on May 1, 1954, in Holstein. They just celebrated 69 wonderful years together.  This union was blessed with two children, Jay and Jon.  He owned and operated a Farm Equipment Dealership for many years. Charles was a member of the American Legion in Marthasville and VFW in Washington for over 75 years. He was also very involved with the local Lions Club and the Elks. He was a member of St. Paul's UCC in Marthasville, where he served on the church council for many years. He had many hobbies but his favorite was bowling, ping pong, and bingo. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and attending all of their sporting events with them.

Charles Henry Driemeyer Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Anna Dreimeyer, and one sister, Pearl Mutert. Surviving family members include his loving wife, D'Arline; two children, Jay Driemeyer and wife Brenda and Jon Driemeyer; three grandchildren, Jason Driemeyer, Jennifer Hanify and husband Nicholas, Kurt Driemeyer and wife Ellie; 6 great-grandchildren, Jillian, Alaina, Emmalee, Henry, Camden, and Levi; one sister in law, Ruth Smith; many other relatives and close family friends.

The family will celebrate the life of Charles Henry Driemeyer Jr. on Thursday, June 1,  from 10 A.M. - 12  P.M. at St. Paul's UCC in Marthasville. Following will be a service to honor him beginning at 12 P.M. also at the church with Rev. Don Deeker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's UCC Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial donations are suggested to be given to St. Paul's UCC or to the American Legion Post 180 c/o Martin Funeral Home.
