Carol Ramey

Carol J. Ramey (nee: Auping) of Marthasville, passed away on April 30, at the age of 79. Carol passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faithfulness.

She was the beloved wife of Ralph J. Ramey for over 62 years. She is survived by Ralph, her daughters Vicki (Larry) Zuhone of Wright City, Linda (Terry) Ramey-Greiwe of Carmel, IN; grandchildren, Amber (Dan), Alexandria (fiancé Alex), Dillion (Lynnsey) and great-grandchildren Landon and Sophia; sister Barb Auping of New Melle, Dennis (Vicki) Auping of New Melle and five sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Alvin Auping, mother, Virginia Auping, sisters Kay Auping and Brenda Auping.

Carol enjoyed serving the Lord at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member.  She served in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She coordinated the food pantry, and served in many roles including treasurer of the Ladies Aid. She gave gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.

Carol enjoyed traveling - especially to national parks, cross stitch embroidering, reading - especially her devotions, and Cardinal baseball.  She enjoyed cooking for family holidays and celebrations.  

Carol’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and participating in their lives and hobbies.  She always wanted to be a part of everything they were involved in.  She loved to take them to local parks.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and enjoyed the role of grandmother and great-grandmother the most.  

Carol worked at Dan’s Country Meats/Bavarian Smoke Haus for 42 years.  She loved greeting the customers and learning about their lives. She touched the lives of countless people with her smile, generosity, and unwavering faith.

A visitation and memorial service to honor and remember Carol will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, New Melle.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon with a funeral service immediately following. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Alzheimer’s Association, or the New Melle St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry.
