Bruce William Groeper passed away on June 4, at the age of 74. Bruce was born September 28, 1950 in Warrenton, to the late Calvin and Betty Groeper nee Owens.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife Martha Groeper nee Doyle of Warrenton; sister, Barbara (David) Orf of Colleyville, Texas; brother-in-law, DeWayne (Jeanne) Doyle of Marthasville; 6 nieces and nephews Julie (Naser) Hamdi, Meghan (Mike) Nelson, Tony (Justine) Orf, Ryan (Kendra) Doyle, Mark (Julie) Doyle, and Devin Doyle; great-nieces and nephews, Ryan, Maya, Lilly, Paxton, Bodhi, Ezra, Greyson, Laila. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Bruce was a Barber for over 30 years in Warren County which he truly loved, building friends for life. He was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ in Wright City. Bruce farmed with his dad for over 40 years, while enjoying his greatest hobby as a gun collector. Bruce enjoyed shooting trap, traveling, music, concerts and loved watching high school basketball, he wouldn't need to know who was playing, he just enjoyed watching kids enjoy the true grit of the game. When growing up Bruce was an active member of the Wright City Lions Club, helping the community, always remembering the re-build of the Lions Club after the tornado. Bruce loved his family; his nieces and nephews were the true love of his life. Bruce never met a bowl of ice cream or a sweet he didn't like; he had a true sweet tooth!! He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held Saturday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Pitman Funeral Home in Warrenton. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Warreton. Memorials can be made to the Holy Rosary School in care of Pitman Funeral Home.
