Mrs. Barbara Sue Nelson, (nee: Bond), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, in Springfield, MO. She was born in Warrenton on January 12, 1946, to the late Jackson N Bond and Mildred W Dreyer.

Barbara graduated from Warrenton High School in 1964, where she was involved in the Pep Squad and other activities. She was united in marriage to William F. Nelson, of Warrenton, on November 7, 1964, and they had four children. Barbara was involved with her children's activities, serving as Den Mother in the Cub Scouts, Troop Leader in the Girl Scouts and kept score at as many baseball games as she could (when she wasn't coaching!). Her son Billy made it easier to keep score while at bat because she only needed to write "K;" her son Greg made it easy while pitching; she still only needed the same "K," but for the other team. Over the years, Barbara worked for St. Joseph's Hospital in Springfield, IL; Henges Industries in Earth City, MO; Harland Checks in O'Fallon, MO; and finished her working career at Clarence Williams, Inc. in St. Charles. For her own interests, she was President of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 122 in Warrenton. Barbara enjoyed playing the piano; singing duets with her children, especially Angie, the Pat Benatar impersonator; spending time with grandkids and reading. She enjoyed watching movies with her son Ken, the obscure movie quote aficionado.

Barbara Sue Nelson was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson and Mildred; husband, William F Nelson; brothers, Jackson N Bond II and Richard P Bond; two nephews, Craig Bond and Adam Bond; and close personal friend, Rush Limbaugh. Barbara is survived by her children, Angela Stanchfield and husband Bill, William Nelson and wife Cyndi, Gregory Nelson and wife Barb, and Kenneth Nelson; grandchildren, Amanda Pope (Michael), Marena Struttmann, Emily Nelson, Nicholas Nelson, Elizabeth Nelson, Brad Maurer, Jackson Nelson, Elijah Wright and Whitney Wright; four great-grandchildren; and nephew, Christopher Bond; other relatives and many friends.
