The sixth annual Back to School Bash will be held on July 31 and Aug. 1, despite uncertainties about the upcoming school year.
“Everyone has a lot of questions about the upcoming school year, but we want to make sure no matter what happens, kids have the supplies they need to be successful this year,” said Michelle Bernth, Agape executive director. “Each year we provide free school supplies to more than 800 kids from families in need.”
The Back to School Bash is a community event that is a partnership between Agape, Faith Christian Family Church, Servant’s Heart, Unite Wright City, Care to Learn, Element Church, the Warren County Health Department and Abracadabra Hair Salon.
This year the event will feature two separate models. Friday, July 31, from 3-6 p.m., will be a drive-through distribution model, while Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be a scaled down in-person model with social distancing. Pre-registration is required for both days.
During Saturday’s in-person event, all volunteers and participants will be required to wear masks. Haircuts will be available for those who choose that option during registration. The games and activities that traditionally take place at this event will not be held this year. Food to-go will be provided to participants on their way out and guests will be asked not to linger.
“We are doing our best to make sure that this event is as safe as possible,” said Bernth. “Although this year’s event will be different from years past, all of the partners are committed to providing school supplies to kids this year.”
Families who are in need of assistance can contact Agape at 636-456-4645 to pre-register for this event.
