Mr. Anthony G. Van Booven, of Warrenton, passed away on Thursday, December 21. He was born on January 2, 1938 in Rhineland, to the late Victor and Ida (nee: Struttman) Van Booven. Tony had reached the age of 85 years.

"Tony" proudly served our country as an MP in the Army Reserves National Guard. He graduated from Warrenton High School. He worked at several lumber and gas companies and then worked for the Warren County Assessor's Office. Tony was a very active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Warrenton. He served as an usher and was a parish council member. He was a past member of the local Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus and also served as a board member for the Warren County Sheltered Workshop. Honoring his family heritage was very important to Tony. He did this by preserving and caring for the graves of family members in the Catholic cemeteries of St. Martin and St. Joseph near Rhineland. He was very family oriented and would do anything to help any of his many nieces and nephews. Tony was devoted to his faith, his family and his community.

Tony Van Booven was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ida; three brothers, Ken, Howard and Glenn Van Booven. Those family members who will remain grateful for having shared in Tony's life are his sister, Wanda Schaeffer; 10 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many close friends.

Tony's family will host a Celebration of Life Visitation on Thursday, December 28 at Martin Funeral Home from 9 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. We will then honor him with a Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church beginning at 11 A.M. A burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Holy Rosary Catholic School, c/o Martin Funeral Home.
