The Cuivre River Electric Community Trust Board has awarded a $5,000 Operation Round Up grant to Agape to acquire an electric pallet jack for use in its food pantry in Warrenton.“Many of our food deliveries come on large pallets and there is no way to move these pallets around our facility,” says Agape Executive Director Michelle Bernth.Food is moved by hand, using carts and other devices, which creates much harder work for volunteer workers.“The grant will help us process large food donations more quickly and more easily,” notes Bernth. “It will create an easier work environment for our volunteers.”To fulfill its mission of helping the hungry, hurting and homeless of Warren County, Agape offers a variety of services, including the food pantry, a thrift shop, emergency utility assistance and prescription assistance. Agape can be reached by calling 636-456-4645 or visiting www.agapemo.org.Grant funds come from Cuivre River Electric Cooperative members who donate to the Community Trust through Operation Round Up. Members voluntarily pay the rounded up amount on their monthly electric bill. The funds are administered by seven volunteer trustees who represent areas within St. Charles, Lincoln, Warren and Pike counties where Cuivre River offers electric service.Operation Round Up addresses unmet needs in the areas of community and emergency services, home weatherization, health, youth and education.
