Yesterday adage about the FBI

Posted

At least in law officers’ circles and in others, it was heard in yesteryears that “you don’t want to lie to the FBI, they surely will get you.” That’s probably true today even though the FBI changed under former director James Comey.

Michael T. Flynn, former national security adviser for President Donald Trump, has admitted he lied to the FBI during the investigation into possible ties between Russia and the Trump presidential campaign staff. Flynn once served in a top post for President Barack Obama. Trump fired Flynn because he lied to Vice President Mike Pence and to the FBI.

Flynn may have cut a deal with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of possible criminal acts involving the Trump team and Russia in an effort to influence the 2016  presidential election. It may be that Flynn wants to avoid prison for his actions in exchange for information that will aid in the investigation.

The problem with Flynn is since he is an admitted liar, what can you believe in what he says?

The White House’s response came from attorney Ty Cobb, who said nothing about Flynn’s guilty pleas implicated anyone in the White House. Cobb said Flynn worked for the Trump administration for only 25 days, and before that worked for the Obama administration.

Probably the whole truth will come out someday. We don’t think it will come entirely out of the current investigation.

There should be a thorough investigation of Hillary Clinton’s handling of secret communiques during her time as secretary of state in the Obama administration. The FBI investigation under director Comey found that she was careless in the handling of secret messages with her private computer server. She destroyed many of those messages. The FBI never got to see them. If anybody else would have done what Hillary did, they would be in prison, except, of course, husband Bill Clinton.
