Leanne Breen of Wright City was named Ms. Missouri Outdoors at the 29th annual Missouri Outdoors State Pageant held Dec. 2 at the Jackson Civic Center in Jackson.
“Last year, I was thrilled when Wright City’s Abigail Thomas won the 2017 Miss Missouri Outdoors Teen and Megan McCloud won the 2017 Miss Missouri Outdoors Junior Teen categories; a first for Wright City” stated Rep. Bryan Spencer. “This year is extra special because Leanne is my niece.”
Breen promotes her love of horses, floating the Current and Jacks Fork rivers, camping, PBR rodeos and attending the Warren County Fair as her favorite outdoor activities in Missouri.
Breen will travel the state visiting various fairs and festivals to promote Missouri tourism, agriculture and natural resources/waterways.
The Missouri Outdoors’ mission is to help young ladies achieve personal growth by gaining self-confidence, public speaking skills and social skills and for everyone to get outdoors and enjoy and learn about Missouri’s beauty and history.
The pageant consisted of patriotic wear, an interview, evening gown and on-stage question.
Breen won the evening gown individual competition.
In other categories, Mia Williams of Dexter was crowned Miss Missouri Outdoors Jr. Teen. Lindsey Gamblin of Salem was crowned Miss Missouri Outdoors Teen. Ruthie Carpenter of Bolivar was crowned Miss Missouri Outdoors and Marsha Woolward of Poplar Bluff was crowned Mrs. Missouri Outdoors.
“Tourism is a large revenue stream for the state and Miss Missouri Outdoors is a great organization to promote it,” said Rep. Jeff Justus, R-Branson, chairman of Missouri House of Representative Tourism Committee. “I wish them all the best promoting our great state and congratulate all the girls on their win.”
