The Wright City Police Department, in collaboration with the Warren County Children's Division, has arrested a Wright City woman following an investigation that revealed both she and her daughter tested positive for illegal substances.
In August, as part of an ongoing investigation, Maryann T. Graham and a 5-year-old child were required to submit hair follicle samples for laboratory testing. The results showed Graham tested positive for methamphetamine and THC. The child, who is non-verbal and autistic, tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and THC.
Based on the test results and subsequent investigation, the Wright City Police Department executed a search warrant in the early morning hours at Graham’s residence on September 17. Officers discovered a digital scale with crystalline residue on the premises. Graham allegedly admitted to using methamphetamine in the presence of the child approximately two months prior.
Graham has been charged with felony first-degree endangering the welfare of a child and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held without bond pending further court proceedings.
“The safety and well-being of children in our community is our highest priority,” said Lieutenant Aaron Sutton of the Wright City Police Department. “This case underscores the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and child protective services to protect vulnerable children from dangerous environments. This event also correlates to Child Welfare Worker’s Week”, said Lieutenant Sutton.
This case remains under investigation.
