Wright City wins team title at John Burroughs

Five Wright City wrestlers had perfect days to help the Lady Wildcats win the team title at the John Burroughs Invite. 

Caelyn Hanff, Kali Jensen, Elizabeth Riggs, Lauren Ritter and Sadie Sehnert each placed first in their respective weight classes to help the Lady Wildcats win the team title. The Lady Wildcats finished the competition with 266 team points, 15 points ahead of Class 2 Eureka.

Jensen, Riggs and Sehnert went 5-0 on the day to place first in their weight classes. Jensen earned all five of her wins by fall to win the 120-pound weight class. She beat Chloe Yount of Park Hills Central in 18 seconds in her semifinal match. She pinned Autumn Ashlock in 2:52 to win the weight class. 

Competing in the 130-pound weight class, Riggs also won all five of her matches by fall. She earned four wins in less than one minute. She pinned Jessica Fallon of Brentwood in 57 seconds in the semifinals and Savannah Bateman in 39 seconds in the championship match.

Sadie Sehnert also won all five of her matches by fall to win the 135-pound weight class. She beat teammate Sara Sehnert in one of her five wins. Sara Sehnert went 4-1 during the competition and placed second in the weight class. 

Hanff went 4-0 on the day to win the 170-pound weight class. She also won all of her matches by fall. She beat Madison McQueen of Ft. Zumwalt East in 1:11 to win her semifinal match. She beat Mya Willis of Eureka in 3:19 to win her weight class. 

Lauren Ritter went 3-0 in the 140-pound weight class to place first. She won all three matches by fall. 

Along with Sara Sehnert, Samantha Yates also went 4-1 during the competition to place second in her weight class. Yates earned four wins by fall to place second in the 115-pound weight class. 

Kailin Hawn and Jolee Lockhart each placed third in their weight class. Hawn earned three wins by fall to earn the third place finish in the 155-pound weight class. Lockhart earned one win in three matches to place third in the 145-pound weight class. She beat Brianna Ramspott of STEAM Academy by fall in 1:52. 

Ella Greenwell won a pair of matches and placed fourth in the 235-pound weight class. 

The Lady Wildcats also earned a pair of dual wins in their home quad last week. Wright City beat South Callaway 60-12. Jensen and Riggs won matches by fall. The Lady Wildcats won eight matches by forfeit. Wright City beat Winfield 60-6. Yates beat Lily Meier of Winfield by fall in 41 seconds. Nine Wright City wrestlers won their match by forfeit. 

Hall, Graves earn top three finish 

Caleb Hall and Lane Graves both finished in the top three at the John Burroughs Invite last week. 

Hall went 3-1 to place second in the 190-pound weight class. Hall earned three wins by fall to advance to the first place match. He fell to Marlo James of Normandy in 3:40 in the championship match. 

Graves went 4-1 in the 144-pound weight class and placed third in the weight class. He earned a win over Zykhi Barnes of Normandy by fall and a pair of major decision wins in his first four matches. Graves beat Alijah Peters of Webster Groves by technical fall to place third in his weight class. 

Quincy Rice went 4-3 on the day to place fourth in the 215-pound weight class. Rice earned four wins by fall, with two of his wins coming in 24 seconds or less. 

Benjamin Rodriguez won a pair of matches to place sixth. Joseph Beitel won one match during the competition and placed eighth. 

Wright City earned one win at their home quad meet last week. The Wildcats beat Winfield 24-15. Beitel and Gavin McCord won contested matches. Wright City fell to South Callaway 30-24. Cody Cushing beat Liam Lewis of South Callaway by fall in 1:15. Wright City dropped their match to Missouri Military Academy 52-20. Wright City won three of five contested matches in the dual. Graves, Hall and Cushing all earned wins in the dual meet loss.
