Wright City, Warrenton Win in Week Seven

The Wright City football team relied on its defense to hold off Clopton in a 17-14 victory.The Wildcats led 14-0 after a 38-yard run by Steven Soltysiak and 35-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Tuepker to Tyler Brittain.Clopton broke loose on a touchdown run with 2:24 left in the half.The IndianHawks tied the game with another quarterback run late in the third quarter, also converting on the two-point try.Clopton had one final desperation attempt for a deep pass that was intercepted by Danny Malta.Lamone Davis also had a crucial fumble recovery as Clopton was driving into Wright City territory late in the fourth quarter.Warrenton 74, Winfield 30As Wright City was hungry for points, Warrenton was putting up record-breaking numbers against a GAC foe.The Warriors rebounded for their second win of the season after being shut out two consecutive weeks.Warrenton hosts Orchard Farm next week, while Van-Far hosts Winfield.
