Wright City scores 28 runs in two wins at FZN Tourney

Wright City won a pair of games at the Ft. Zumwalt North Tournament to earn a fifth place finish. 

After dropping their opener of the tournament to St. Charles, Wright City (6-10-1) earned a pair of double digit wins over Ft. Zumwalt North and Lutheran St. Charles to earn the fifth place finish. 

Wright City scored in every inning in their 18-4 win in six innings over Ft. Zumwalt North. Paige Rees and Sophia Wegrzyn each recorded four hits and 3 RBIs in the win. Rees led the Lady Wildcats with five runs scored. Lydia Clubb and Wegrzyn each hit a home run. Clubb led Wright City with 5 RBIs. Emma Staats, Ava Swaringen and Hailey Swor also registered multiple hits for the Lady Wildcats. Swaringen earned the win on the mound for Wright City. She pitched all six innings and allowed four earned runs. She recorded two strikeouts. 

Wright City followed up their win over Ft. Zumwalt North with a 10-0 win over Lutheran St. Charles in five innings. The Lady Wildcats scored in all five innings and smacked 10 hits. Clubb led Wright City with three hits, including a home run.. She scored two runs and had 2 RBIs. Wegrzyn also hit a home run. Staats and Swaringen each had two hits. Wegrzyn earned the win on the mound for Wright City. She threw five shutout innings. She allowed two hits and three walks. She struck out two Lutheran St. Charles batters. 

Wright City dropped a conference game to Bowling Green, falling to the Lady Cats 10-1. Staats registered two of Wright City’s five hits. Rees, Lillian Brown and Sadie Sehnert also had one hit. Rees scored Wright City’s lone run of the game. 

Wright City was slated to play at St. Charles Wednesday. They will host Clopton Thursday.
