Students, staff and alumni of Wright City R-II are mourning the loss of a beloved coach and educator. Jeff Hollaway, 55, passed away on Wednesday. Hollaway had served in several coaching capacities before recently retiring. He was most recently an assistant with the Wildcat varsity football and track programs. Varsity football coach Matt Brooks worked alongside Hollaway and also had him as a junior high coach while attending school in Auxvasse. "Jeff was a great teacher of the game and great working with kids," shared Brooks. "He always had the kids best interest at heart and took a lot of pride in seeing them be successful." Hollaway's services are planned for Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles. The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Jeff Hollaway, who served as a teacher and coach in the Wright City R-II School District, passed away on Wednesday.
