Changes are coming to events in the Wright City R-II School District.
At the September meeting, the school board voted unanimously to purchase the equipment needed to begin using the GoFan platform for online event ticketing as part of the board's consent agenda.
Wright City Athletics Director Tyler Rickard said that, after an extensive vetting process, the platform made the most sense for the district.
“This is something we started exploring at the end of the summer,” Rickard said. “As times have continued to evolve, we have found there is a need for cashless entrance into our events in the district. After exploring multiple products, we believe we found a product that will provide the district and spectators with a more efficient ticketing process.”
Rickard said that the plan is to roll out the new ticketing system for the winter or spring season.
He added that the district will still accept cash payments for events; the GoFan system will simply provide an additional option for spectators to purchase tickets.
“At this time, we don't plan to eliminate taking physical money,” Rickard said. “Instead, we will use digital ticketing as a supplement to our current process.”
According to the information provided for the consent agenda vote, the district can implement the service for essentially free with two devices. Each additional device costs $600.
The GoFan ticketing system will involve ticket fees.
They include:
For postseason contests, the rates may vary depending on any fees imposed by the Missouri State High School Activities Association.
Rickard said the ease it offers fans should make the service well worth it.
“Spectators will be able to purchase tickets ahead of time and simply scan their digital ticket upon entrance into the facility,” Rickard said. “In the event a game is canceled, we can quickly and efficiently reimburse spectators for previously purchased tickets. Previously purchased season passes will still be accepted at all events as well. Once we have finalized our timeline, we will communicate the changes to our patrons and visiting fans.”
